This rugged, compact 115v MAGNETIC HOT PLATE STIRRER can heat up to 2L of liquid (depending on viscosity and temperature - The larger hotplate stirrer may be needed for liquids in larger volumes to acheive a high temperature.) on its 4.5 x 4.5 inch corrosion resistant, cast aluminum heating surface. The stepless heat adjustment lets you dial in temperatures up to approximately 300 degrees Fahrenheit. It also comes with one stir bar and has a support rod attached, which is perfect for holding a thermometer or even a ph probe in the solution. It is strong enough to give a nice vortex, even in the most viscious solutions. It is factory rate to stir 500mL but we regularly stir up to 2000mL. Heater: Bring the heat up slowly, until the desired temperature is reached. The top plate will retain heat for a time even after the heater control is turned off. Remove the sample after use to avoid it boiling over. Only non-ferrous metals or Borosilicate glass produces should be used with this unit. Failure to use these can result in the failure of the unit. Never try to heat plastic on this unit!

Stirrer: Always start to stir from the off position. Failure to do so may cause the stir bar to jump and break the container. Make sure to match the size of your stir bar to the size of the container. 2" (50mm) is the maximum size stir bar for this size stirrer.

Thermometer: Place the connecting rod into the holder at the back of the unit. The thermometer should be placed halfway into the sultion that is being stirred. For the best results, make sure that it it outside of the vortex that the stirrer produces.

pH Probe: For pH measurements, stir the solution slowly and position the pH probe toward the side of the container, approximately 1" off of the bottom of the container.
