Luminescence is light without heat. Luminescence has applications in many aspects of modern life, from farming to detecting life on other planets. This experiment produces cold light by a chemical reaction. Chemical energy is converted into light. Turn out the lights and watch as two solutions are poured together to produce a glow-in-the-dark light.
 
Grades 5-10, (10 demos per kit).
This classroom kit includes:
  • 1 pair of safety goggles,
  • 2 - 0.23g vials of Luminol,
  • 2 - 500mL 10% bleach solution,
  • 2 - 500mL 0.1M Sodium Hydroxide solution,
  • 2 - 100mL graduated cylinders,
  • 1- 250mL Erlenmeyer flask
