Dr. Lloyd Noel Ferguson spent twenty years researching the mysteries of our sense of taste. There are about 10,000 taste buds in the human mouth. In this experiment, you will find where on the tongue the taste buds for sweet, salty, sour and bitter are concentrated.

These hands-on experiments are great fun! This kit includes materials (even solutions of sweet, salty, sour and bitter) for a group of 30 students. The instructor may want to supplement materials with assorted foods (candy, fruit, etc.) There is biographical information on Dr. Ferguson, as well as teaching tips for the instructor. This is best suited for grades 5-12. Excellent for home schools!
