Nutrient Agar

Nutrient agar is the most popular agar media on the market today. It is used to culture a wide range of bacteria, molds, and yeasts. This ready-to-pour agar is supplied in an easy to use, high density, polyethylene bottle. You will receive 350mL of ready-to-pour nutrient agar with instructions. A bottle will fill about 15-20, 100x15mm petri dishes. It is safe for shipping and very popular with many of our customers.
           With proper storage, this product has a useful shelf life of  up to 2 years.

It contains agar, Pancreatic digest of Casein, and tryptone. (In order to prevent boiling over when heated, the bottle is actually larger than 350ml. BOTTLE IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE FULL!) The culture media used is manufactured in a FDA certified and cGMP Controlled facility. The ready to pour agar is a gelling agent extracted from red algae. The nutrient agar contains beef extract (provides carbohydrates, nitrogen, vitamins, salt), peptone (helps control pH), and agar (a carbohydrate used as a solidifying agent).
