Nutrient agar is the most popular agar media on the market today. It is used to culture a wide range of bacteria, molds, and yeasts, thought it is not as good for fungus. The ingredients are pancreatic digest of casien, agar and beef extract. This product comes as easy to use, pre-measured packets with 23 grams of Agar product to make 1000mL of finished solution. Preparation of the solution requires the use of some laboratory equipment such as a hot plate or lab burner. The powder has a useful shelf life of 2 years.
