MacConkey Agar Powder Makes 500mL Finished Solution

 

MacConkey agar is specific in the differentiation between lactose fermenting or non-fermenting organisms. Lactose fermenting colonies appear red to pink in colonies. Lactose non-fermenting bacteria appear as colorless colonies. MacConkey agar is good for gram negative and coliforms. This product comes as easy to use, pre-measured packets with the proper amount of agar product to make 500mL of finished solution. Preparation of the solution requires the use of some laboratory equipment such as a hot plate or lab burner. This powder has a useful shelf life of 2 years.
