Offered for sale is a sleeve of 20 high quality sterile polystyrene 90x15mm petri dishes with one bottle of 350mL pre-made, ready to pour agar, 10 sterile swabs and an innoculating loop. The Nutrient Agar can be heated in a microwave and will have at least one year shelf life. (In order to prevent boiling over when heated, the bottle is actually larger than 350ml. BOTTLE IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE FULL!) The culture media used is manufactured in a FDA certified and cGMP Controlled facility. The ready to pour agar is a gelling agent extracted from red algae. The nutrient agar contains beef extract (provides carbohydrates, nitrogen, vitamins, salt), peptone (helps control pH), and agar (a carbohydrate used as a solidifying agent). The petri dishes are commonly used for bacterial counts and growth studies. The innoculating loop has a nicrome loop and an aluminum handle. These are popular for science projects, mushroom cultivation and flower propagation among other things. You also get directions with this auction.
