Nutrient Agar Prepoured Dishes

Nutrient agar is the most popular agar media on the market today. It is used to culture a wide range of bacteria, molds, and yeasts, though it is not as good for fungus. Contains agar, Pancreatic digest of Casein, and tryptone. These plates are by far the most convenient way to culture bacteria, molds, etc.
Offered for sale is a sleeve of 10 Nutrient Agar Prepoured Plates with 10 sterile swabs. These are popular for school science projects, mushroom cultivation and flower propagation among other things. They are high quality, disposable, 100x15mm (4x5/8) petri dishes and come with Nutrient Agar Culture Medium used for bacterial growth studies. The agar is a gelling agent extracted from red algae. The nutrient agar contains beef extract (provides carbohydrates, nitrogen, vitamins, salt), peptone (helps control pH), and agar (a carbohydrate used as a solidifying agent).
The swabs are used to transfer samples to the culture plates. The dishes measure 100mm in diameter x 15mm deep. The agar itself has a depth of approximately 6-7mm.
Pre-poured agar is perishable and must be refrigerated.
It is best used within 4 weeks of receipt.
Agar is perishable so we require shipping based on the current weather. Right now we are shipping UPS overnight, UPS second day , USPS priority mail and USPS express mail. We cannot ship pre-poured agar internationally but we can ship ready-to-pour and powdered agar internationally. We will update the shipping choices as the weather changes. We generally ship agar Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday so that it does not sit in a truck over the weekend. If you order on Thursday, your order will go out on Monday unless you contact us to arrange quicker shipping.
Please refrigerate your agar immediately upon delivery.
Due to the importance of freshness of Agar, we only keep a certain amount of pre-poured plates in stock ready to ship, more in science fair season. For large orders, please allow a few extra days for delivery so that we can manufacturer them fresh for you. If you need agar immediately, please email or call for our in stock count .
When choosing shipping, there are a few guidelines:
- We are located in Alabama. We generally try to ship the quickest way, UPS or USPS, depending on your location. If you have to have it a certain way, let us know.
- For standard shipping, UPS is better for areas close to us, priority is better for distant areas.
- UPS is guaranteed. If you absolutely must have it on a certain day, remember that we cannot be responsible if the post office does not get it there. For distance areas, you may want to choose second day UPS if you do not want priority mail.
- The post office is not guaranteed but most of the time priority mail arrives in three days. Express Mail and Saturday delivery does not go everywhere in the United States, please contact us to see if your area has overnight delivery with the post office.
