Fossil Mortar and Pestle Handmade-Devonian Period Stone

 

Fossil Mortar and Pestle 6 in. tall x 4.5 in. Since these are HANDMADE items made with primitive techniques and tools, the workmanship will not be perfect like a factory-produced piece. Furthermore, the stone is from the Devonian Period 395 - 345 MILLION YEARS AGO. There are many veins and fissures as the stone formed and aged. What looks like a crack is only a part of the stone. Each piece is sturdy and heavy similar to carved objects in marble. The pieces can be used everyday but do require special care in handling as the stone can chip or break. Each mortar and pestle has been hand made in Morocco out of the highest quality fossil marble excavated from the Sahara Desert. These are so beautiful, that they will make superb display pieces, either purely ornamental or for use. They should be treated in the same manner as fine china.
