Spectra Stone Liquid Crystal Changes Colors with Temperature

 

The Spectra Stone will display rainbows of ever-changing brilliant colors with the slightest temperature change. The liquid crystal on the botton of the Spectra Stone is formulated to change colors between the temperature of 61 degrees F and 93 degrees F.

Thermal Liquid Crystal is made of cholesterol and therefore called cholesteric liquid crystal. Its molecules are rod shaped and change their positions as temperatures change causing them to reflect different colors. The liquid crystal used here has two formulations microencapsulated so it repeats several of the colors. Since the Spectra Stone is lens shaped, viewing it a different angles will also change the color that you see. "
