In this exercise you will determine the density of four metals, similar in appearance. Mass will be determined using an Ohaus Scout Pro electronic balance and volume will be calculated using Archimedes Principle of Displacement. The data obtained will then be compared to published density values. This kit is designed for 15 set-ups.

Materials included in the kit:

  • 1 x 125 g Aluminum Metal
  • 1 x 125 g Lead Metal
  • 1 x 125 g Nickel Metal
  • 1 x 125 g Zinc Metal
  • 15 Aluminum weighing trays

Materials needed but not supplied:

  • Ohaus ScoutnPro electronic balance (Ohaus item #SPE123)
  • 10-ml graduated cylinders
  • Distilled water
