Sodium Polyacrylamide - One Pound of the 1-2mm granules. This versatile chemical has a lot of uses. Cooling dog and people collars, water retention in soil, flower arranging and science demonstrations are just a few of the uses. Known as ghost crystals, a glass container appears to contain only water and a small loop of thread hanging down in the water. When the string is lifted out, a large shiny crystal is found to be in the loop. When the string is lowered back into the water, the crystal disappears, again. This is a very popular demonstration for the chemistry classroom, elementary through high school.
Potassium polyacrylamide is a synthetic copolymer. The polymer is non-toxic and safe to use in all landscape applications. With plants, it releases water as your plants need it. It stores over 200 times its weight in tap water. It will store even more with deionized water.
We stock two sizes of granules in this product. This one is generally used for cooling collars, the large granule is usually used for science experiments, the crystals are bigger, so it is easier to thread.
