500 grams of bulk nutrient agar powder. Nutrient agar is the most popular agar media on the market today. It is used to culture a wide range of bacteria, molds, and yeasts, though it is not as good for fungus. The ingredients are pancreatic digest of casien, agar and beef extract. 100 grams of Nutrient Agar powder makes approximately 4300mL of finished solution. 23 grams makes one liter. Preparation of the solution requires the use of some laboratory equipment such as a hot plate or lab burner. The powder has a useful shelf life of 2 years.
