Shipping Policies

Important to note:
We make every effort to ship within one business day.  If you need your package shipped quicker than 24 hours please call 205-683-9765 to confirm immediate shipment.
*Cuttoff for same-day shipping for overnight or 2nd day air packages is 3pm CST (4pm EST, 1pm PST), Monday thru Friday.
*All customers, international and domestic, will receive an email notification including the tracking number once their  package has been shipped.
*International shipments are processed by our shipping department twice a week.
*Burets and 24" glass tubing is required to ship via USPS Priority Mail International, even if an option of First Class is  available.

Domestic Shipping

Shipping is calculated based on not only your address, but the items ordered and the type of shipping you desire.  We try to offer multiple shipping options, however please note that not all shipping options are available on all items or combinations of items.  This is due to the size and weight limitations of the various shipping methods.

We offer shipping via USPS, FedEx and UPS.  We do not offer shipping via DHL unless your company provides us with their shipper number.  We can also use your UPS account to ship via UPS, if desired.

If you are in a hurry to receive your item, or the desired shipping (such as UPS Next Day Air) is not available when you are checking out, please call 1-205-683-9765 or by emailing Customer Service  and we will try to accommodate you.

Please remember that we are not UPS or USPS.  We cannot control mistakes that they make once your package has left our facility.  As such, if you request overnight shipping and we afix the proper shipping labels and documentation for overnight shipping, we cannot be held liable if your package does not arrive in time.  We can apply for a refund with the shipping company and reimburse you ONLY if the shipping company reimburses us.

Because of the variety of items that we carry, sometimes the shipping cost can be difficult for a program to calculate and the cost comes out either too high or too low.  We review shipping costs on a daily basis, and often issue refunds for the overages.  If the actual cost of shipping is higher than estimated, we reserve the right to contact you and about the difference.

All packages shipped via UPS are automatically insured.  Packages shipped via USPS are insured if the cost of merchandise (not including the shipping) exceeds $50.  If your package is damaged, please contact us at (205)683-9765 or by emailing Customer Service  and we will see what can be done about replacing or refunding the merchandise.



International Shipping

Shipping is calculated by our shipping program based on the size, weight, and destination of the package.  We ship international packages using USPS Priorty and USPS First Class International.  Please be aware that there is a four (4) pound weight limit (including packaging materials) for First Class International packages.

Tracking is ONLY available on USPS Priority shipments.  The number you receive in your email for First Class International packages is only a delivery confirmation number, and will only be updated once the package has been delivered.

Please understand that international shipping can be extremely expensive.  International customers should carefully consider their purchases, as all international shipping fees are non-refundable.

We absolutely will NOT mark international packages as "gift" or "sample" due to legal reasons.

The time table that USPS provides for international shipping is not always reliable, so please understand that it may take longer for your package to arrive than originally estimated.  Please be sure to check with your local postal service and customers offices to see if it has been arrived.  Many times a package that has been thought to be lost was sitting at the post office waiting for the customer to pick it up.

Every country has different customs fees/policies.  Any extra charges incurred through customs are the sole responsibility of the customer to pay.  Online Science Mall does not keep track of which countries charge for processing a package through their customs offices, nor do we keep track of the fees that might be associated with this proceedure.

USPS regulations require that we wait a minimum of 30 days before filing a tracer on any international package to determine its current location.  If it has been 30 days and you have not received your package, please contact us so that we can try to track it done.

**Please note, our returns/refunds policy applies to international orders as well.


Refused and Undeliverable Packages

If your package is returned to us marked as refused or undeliverable, we will contact you immediately upon receiving the item back at our facilities.

Should a package be refused by the customer and returned to us, the order wil be cancelled.  A refund will be issued in accordance with our refund and returns policy, found on this page.

If a package is returned to us marked "undeliverable" and the address that is in our shipping system is the address that was provided to us, Online Science Mall reserves the right to ask for additional shipping from the customer to reship the package.  If a refund is requested instead, a refund will be issued in accordance with our refund and returns policy, found on this page.

Lost Packages

If your package does not arrive and appears to be lost, please contact us.  We can take steps to have the package tracked down by USPS or UPS, depending on which was used to ship your package.
*Please note that even if we open up a case with USPS, they will only issue a tracer on Priority Mail packages after 14 days.
**UPS will issue a tracer immediately after we contact them.
