Liebig Condenser, Borosilicate Glass, 400mm
The most basic of the water-cooled designs, a Liebig condenser features a straight inner tube. A Liebig condenser uses liquid, typically water, to cool the vapors in the inner tube, because of its higher capacity to absorb heat. The continuous circulation of water through the jacket helps keep the temperature constant.
The biggest benefit of a Liebig condenser is the ability to loosely pack stainless steel 'wool' or another nonreactive and heat-conductive material into the inner cylinder. Done properly, this can grealy increase the reflux effect as well as the overall efficiency of a distillation.
Two small inlets on opposite sides of the outer jacket allow water or another liquid to circulate around the coil to assist in the formation of condensation. They can be attached to a water source using 5/16" flexible tubing.
The jacket length of this condenser is 400mm
