All of our small barn owl pellets are approximately .75 inches to 1.25 inches long.

What are Owl Pellets? Owl Pellets are a fantastic, unique biology lab your students will never forget. An owl pellet, in ornithology, is the mass of undigested parts of a bird's food that a barn owl has regurgitated. The contents of an owl's pellet depend on its diet, but can include the exoskeletons of insects, indigestible plant matter, small animal bones, fur, feathers, bills, claws, and teeth. We will include a bone sorting chart with every order. Pellets come directly from birds of prey and are a natural teaching tool. They are a fantastic example of the food chain, the principles of ecology, animal structure and function, skeletal anatomy, and natural history! Great for kindergarten to the collegiate level.

An economical way of using working with pellets is to sort the bones into an egg carton and use toothpicks or straightened paper clips to pull the pellets apart.
