Shark Teeth Vary
The sharks that these fossilized teeth came from lived in ancient seas that covered much of the southeastern United States and northwestern Africa 10 to 25 million years ago. Of the 350 species that have been classified, those found in these particular areas include the Atlantic Sand, Blacktip, Bull, Carcharodon Megalodon, Dusky, Great White, Spinner, Mako, Hammerhead, Hemipristis, Lemon, Sand and Tiger sharks. The teeth of sharks are constantly regenerated. Each tooth that is lost or broken is quickly replaced by a new one, with a limitless supply of reserve teeth. One shark will produce thousands of teeth in its lifetime. The color of each tooth is caused by the minerals in which it was embedded as it fossilized.
Because these teeth come from such a wide variety of species. many teeth will look very different from others. These ancient fossil rocks may show fissures or cracks that are part of the fossilizing process. These teeth will show wear that is normal for sharks teeth. Some may even have chipped tips that represent wear and tear of the sharks life all those many millions of years ago.
Picture is representative of the specimen you will receive. Each rock is unique and will vary in shape, size and appearance. No two rocks will be exactly alike.
