Giant DNA Molecule - Human Anatomy
by Denoyer-Geppert

At nearly 3 feet in height, this molecular DNA model is highly visible, making is ideally suited for lecture hall presentations. At the same time, it can also prove to be extremely useful in the lab, as students will be able to conduct hands-on investigations into DNA replication and RNA synthesis.

A series of magnetic connectors, used to represent the hydrogen bonds, allow for both strands of the double helix to completely unzip, allowing for the mechanisms of DNA replication and RNA synthesis to be explored in a hands-on manner. With a removable nucleotide, students will get first-hand experience into why a large purine base always has to pair with a smaller pyrimidine base, as well as why they are complementary. That is to say adenine must pair with thymine to form two hydrogen bonds, while guanine and cytosine come together and form three hydrogen bonds. A series of non-separable atoms for the sugar-phosphate backbone of the DNA molecule.

Each model is molded out of high-density polystyrene, and encompasses all six base pairs. The double helix model is supported on a sturdy hardwood stand, which allows for the model to be rotated for viewing from all angles.

The model measures 34x16 inches (HxD), and comes complete with an instructional guide.

All models from Denoyer-Geppert are 100% American-made, and are painstakingly handcrafted in their Skokie, Illinois, facility. The handcrafting process includes everything from molding, sanding, and labeling. Each part is painted and number-coded by hand, and each completed model features the signature and date of their individual craftsman.

They also carry Denoyer-Geppert's Lifetime Guarantee of Satisfaction, wherein they will repair or replace any component on any of their autographed anatomy models that is defective due to workmanship, free of charge (shipping may be excluded), for as long as you own the model.
