Why do these Celestial Shapes glow in the dark?
The glow-in-the-dark shapes are made with a special formula of phosphorescent pigment called Glominite, which is mixed into the products during manufacturing.  Glominite stores light, then gradually releases it.  It is safety-tested & never wears out, so the glowing effect is always rechargeable by light.  Expose the stars to light for one minute.  Then, turn off the lights & watch them glow!

Amazing Space Facts!

  • Most astronomers believe the universe was formed about 15 billion years ago with a huge explosion called the Big Bang.
  • The Big Bang created over 1 trillion stars in the universe.  We can see only 6,000 stars with the naked eye.
  • The stars in the night sky appear to twinkle because air currents affect the light from stars as we see them, just as waves in a puddle affect the way we see the reflection of light.
  • The mass of the Sun is 1,000 times greater than the mass of all the planets combined.
  • The temperature on the surface of the Sun is 5,500 degrees Celsius (10,000 degrees Farenheit).  The Earth is over 93 million miles away in space where the average temperature is about -270 degrees Celsius (-454 degress F).  Without the heat of the Sun, the Earth would be a frozen rock.

All “glow-in-the-dark” products contain phosphors and have to be “charged” in order to attain a good glow.  A phosphor is a substance that radiates visible light after being energized.  After being exposed to light, most items will glow for at least 10 minutes. You may need to be in nearly complete darkness to notice it.  The brighter the light and the longer the exposure, the better and longer the item will glow.
